Introducing Citeroot: see what AI says about you, and why

Why we built Citeroot, what it records, and the three promises we're making about how it behaves.

Ask an assistant "which workflow tool should a 40-person ops team use?" and you get a short list, a few links and a confident paragraph. Whether your company is on that list is now a question marketing teams get asked every week — and until recently the only way to answer it was to paste prompts into a chat window and screenshot the result.

Citeroot is our attempt to make that question answerable with evidence.

#What Citeroot does

Citeroot runs the questions your buyers ask against the engines they use, and keeps every answer as recorded. From there it does three things:

  1. Measures mentions, citations and recommendations as separate signals, with variance shown.
  2. Traces each answer to the domains and pages behind it, so you can see who is cited and who isn't.
  3. Diagnoses your site — crawler access and page readiness — then helps turn the findings into draft briefs your team reviews (beta).

Every number in the product opens the answer behind it. If you can't read the evidence, we don't think you should be asked to trust the metric.

Today it collects from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity. Search Console and analytics integrations, an API and team seats are on the roadmap but not built, and the site says so on each page.

#Three promises

We'll keep the record honest. Answers are stored as collected, never rewritten, and later runs are compared like with like. When a collection fails, we say so rather than counting it as an absence.

We won't claim what nobody can prove. No tool can show that a particular change caused a visibility gain, and none can guarantee a citation. Citeroot records what changed and when so your team can weigh the evidence.

Humans decide. Citeroot prepares drafts and reports. Nothing is published, sent or changed on your site by Citeroot — a person does that.

#Who it's for

Agencies that need a defensible baseline for clients. In-house teams that want SEO, content and brand to share one picture. Founders who want to know if they exist in the answer yet. Retailers who need to know what engines say about their products. Communications teams that want to know which coverage is actually quoted.

#Where to start

The quickest way in is the free tools: check which AI crawlers your robots.txt admits, or audit a page's answer-readiness. When you want it tracked over time, start a 14-day free trial — no card — with a small prompt panel, or book a demo and bring three questions your buyers ask.

We'll publish what we learn along the way — including what doesn't work — on this blog and in the changelog.
