What you get

Built for evidence, not vibes.

01

Domain and page detail

Move from a ranked list of cited domains to the pages that were cited and the answers that cited them.

02

Source types you can sort by

Owned, competitor, review site, community, editorial, documentation, marketplace, directory, video and social. Types come from a transparent rule-based classifier over well-known domains, so treat them as a guide, not a verdict.

03

Gap lists you can work from

Domains cited in answers that name your competitors but never in an answer that names you, ranked by how many answers they touch. Available on Summit and Expedition, including during a Summit trial.

04

A view by engine

See which engines lean on which sources, so a gap in one engine isn't averaged away by the others.

How it works

Three steps, no guesswork.

  1. Collect with links intact

Citations are stored as each engine returned them, with title and URL.

  2. Classify and count

Domains are typed and counted across all your answers, so patterns show up beyond any single answer.

  3. Prioritise the gaps

Rank sources by the number of answers they touch, then read the pages and decide whether there is a legitimate reason for you to be there.

FAQ

About Source Map

Is a citation the same as a mention?

No. A mention is your brand named in the text. A citation is a link to a source. Either can happen without the other, so Citeroot reports them separately.

Who gets gap lists?

Summit and Expedition, including during a Summit trial. Trail and Scout see the ranked list of cited domains and their types.

Can I export the data?

Paid plans (Trail and above) can export answers as CSV. Scout cannot.
