NewBetaBrief Studio

Briefs and Insights (beta)

Brief Studio drafts a content brief from a gap in your data — a question you are missing from, a source that cites rivals but not you — and Insights writes up an investigation of your latest results with a short list of what to do first.

  • Every number in a draft is computed from your recorded answers and audits in code; the writing is a draft for a person to read and edit.
  • With an Anthropic key configured the draft is written by Claude. Without one you get a plainer template draft built from the same facts.
  • Monthly limits: Scout gets one insight, Trail three briefs and five insights, Summit fifty of each.

This is a beta: expect rough edges, and read what it writes before you act on it.

Launch

Citeroot is live

Citeroot is open for sign-ups. Here is exactly what works today.

  • Accounts and a 14-day trial. Sign up and get 14 days of Trail or Summit with no card. When the trial ends the account moves to the free Scout plan; nothing is deleted or charged.
  • Answer Tracker. Ask your prompts on ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity with web search on. Every answer is stored with its cited sources, and measured for mentions, citations, recommendations and competitors, with 95% intervals and "within normal variation" labels.
  • Source Map. See which domains the answers cite, typed by kind (review site, community, editorial …), and on Summit the gaps: sources cited next to rivals but never next to you.
  • Site Audit. Check AI-crawler access in your robots.txt and score each page for answer-readiness. Multi-page audits need you to verify the domain.
  • Plans and billing. Scout (free), Trail and Summit through Stripe, with a monthly answer allowance on each. Cancel any time from the customer portal.
  • Your data. Export everything as JSON from Settings; answers export as CSV on paid plans.

What is not here yet: Referral Radar, Shelf, Demand Lens, Market Intel, Agents, an MCP server, an API and webhooks, integrations, and team seats. They are marked "coming soon" across the site, each with a waitlist.

NewSite Audit

Multi-page Site Audit and domain verification

Site Audit now crawls more than the homepage. It discovers pages from your sitemap, checks each one, and rolls the results up into a site score with the issues that affect the most pages first.

  • Verify first. Unverified domains are limited to the homepage plus a few pages, so the crawler can't be pointed at someone else's site. Verify with a DNS TXT record, a file at /.well-known/, or a meta tag.
  • Polite by design. The crawler identifies itself as CiterootBot, honours robots.txt and caps its speed and page size.
  • Crawler access by purpose. AI crawler permissions are reported grouped by purpose — search, user-triggered fetches and training — with the robots.txt rule that matched. The same logic powers the free AI crawler checker.
  • Page limits by plan: 25 on Scout, 100 on Trail, 250 on Summit.
